Engage Comms shortlisted for Best Use of Content and Outstanding Young Communicator at CIPR Yorkshire & Lincolnshire Awards 2019!

We are thrilled to have been shortlisted in the Best Use of Content category at this year’s Chartered Institute of Public Relations’ (CIPR) Yorkshire & Lincolnshire Awards for our work with long-standing client Nova Tissue; a family-run UK manufacturer of discount toilet paper and kitchen towel (it really is all glamour with us!) But we are even more excited that our Account Manager Chloe Greenwood, who joined Engage Comms five years ago when we were still a start-up business following her apprenticeship in marketing & PR, has been shortlisted for the special Outstanding Young Communicator award alongside just two other young professionals from the region.

The Outstanding Young Communicator category of the CIPR Yorkshire & Lincolnshire Awards, which our director Helen Gill (formerly Standing) won back in 2010, recognises the top talent from our industry in the region under 30 years old. Aged just 25 and coming into the industry via a non-traditional vocational route without an academic degree, Chloe has already broken the mould just by being shortlisted. As all the colleagues, clients and partners who have worked and work with her know, she couldn’t be a more deserving candidate. Her award entry was focused on her contribution not only to growing a dynamic small business with her innovative thinking, professionalism beyond her years, and ‘can do’ attitude, but also on her efforts to champion vocational skills which is a sector we do a lot of work in and a topic close to our hearts. We hope that she is able to set an example to others coming into the industry and to other employers, demonstrating that academic qualifications are not the ‘be all and end all’ of working in strategic marketing comms and that a thirst for independent ongoing learning is equally if not more important.

We’re also proud to once again be up against a much bigger agency with a much bigger client and budget in the shortlist, this time in the Best Use of Content category. This is testament to the innovative outcomes-driven B2B marketing work we do with SMEs which has a tangible long term impact on their business. Discount toilet roll may not be glamorous but we’ve been able to design and implement a content strategy that has helped the manufacturing company continue its rapid growth in turbulent economic and political times, creating a sustainable foundation that we are confident will help it survive and thrive long term. This is an important awards category for us because it recognises what we do that adds the most value to our clients and that is the ability to translate their technical expertise into engaging and impactful content – something that many organisations underestimate the importance of.

Watch this space for the results from the awards ceremony in November – whatever the outcome, we’ll be celebrating what is another hugely successful year for Engage Comms!
