That’s why in November I joined Kaushy Patel, otherwise known as ‘The mother of Prashad’, at the Dean Clough Cooking School for the Secrets of Prashad cooking course!

It was a fantastic opportunity to get to know Kaushy better, and a chance to appreciate how much love she really does put into her food. Her enjoyment of the cooking process is infectious, and everyone was desperate to join in and get cooking after the first demonstration! I brought my Dad along as an early Christmas present as he’s a huge Prashad fan, and as you can see he got stuck straight into making Puna Bataka!

Next up were the spinach parcels, bataka vada and onion bhajis. The bataka vada were definitely my favourite – little deep fried balls of potato, coriander, chilli, coconut and happiness!

Whether you’re a budding vegetarian, committed carnivore or simply a full-on foodie, I can’t recommend the Secrets of Prashad cooking course enough. If you can’t imagine a meal without meat then it will open your eyes to the flavours that are possible with just vegetables and spices, and if you are veggie then trust me, you won’t be disappointed!
