We have been working with one of the UK’s leading language services providers, The Language Shop, over the last few months on the development of a new career development website for public service interpreters, which has now been launched.
TLS Learn is designed to bring together the ‘best in class’ development opportunities for those looking to start, progress or develop a career as a public service interpreter, making it easy to access industry-leading qualifications and training online. The aim is to enable public sector organisations, including the Ministry of Justice (MoJ), to access interpreters with the right experience and skills, by attracting more people into the profession and supporting them to forge a successful career.
As part of the suite of online and classroom-based training on offer, TLS Learn has formed a strategic partnership with Chartered Insitute of Linguists (CIOL) and its Awarding Organisation CIOL Qualifications (CIOLQ) to offer its highly regarded Level 6 Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI – Law) and a selection of relevant CPD courses.
TLS Learn and Language Shop Director Sam Lingard says:
“Public service interpreters working in settings including courtrooms and the NHS require a complex set of skills and personal attributes. We believe that a career in public service interpreting should be accessible and rewarding, and we want to support interpreters to continuously develop the skills required to work to the highest standards. With e-learning more important than ever, we hope that our online qualifications and training will provide a much-needed resource for those looking to start, progress and develop a career in the profession.”
Ann Carlisle, CEO, CIOL adds:
“As a professional body for linguists, we know how important it is that more of our members and qualified Interpreters are encouraged and enabled to work in vital public service interpreting roles. We’re pleased to see TLS Learn offering a platform for this that includes CIOLQ’s Level 6 DPSI (Law) qualification, which certifies the language skills, interpreting technique and ethical approach required to handle the most demanding justice sector interpreting assignments.”
We’re now delivering a strategic content marketing campaign to raise awareness of and build credibility for the new brand and sell its e-learning product range to highly targeted audiences of bilingual people and existing linguists across the UK.
