Engage Comms, along with client Money Advice Liaison Group (MALG) and partner Absolutely Admin Solutions, is celebrating five years since the start of the Covid-19 lockdown by holding an anniversary-special MALG Friday Forum session.

The MALG Friday Forum was an idea concocted by Engage Comms Director Helen Gill, MALG CEO Bob Winnington and Absolutely Admin Solutions Director Heidi Oliver, when the Covid-19 lockdown was announced. They had been working together as a team to deliver the membership organisation’s proposition, which was predominantly focused on face-to-face events designed to give Members the opportunity to ‘work together to improve the lives of people in debt’.

Within a week of the lockdown being announced on Friday 27 March 2020, having never run a virtual event before, the team launched the MALG Friday Forum; a weekly, hour-long, open-agenda, drop-in session held via Zoom where Members including debt advisers, creditor, policy makers and others could come together and discuss the issues facing people in debt as they were happening. This was vital at a time when financial difficulty was greater than ever due to the pandemic and customer support was limited due to lockdown.

The MALG Friday Forum is still going strong (now on a fortnightly basis) and is now considered as one of the main membership benefits. On Friday 28 March 2025, exactly five years since it was launch, Helen, Bob and Heidi hosted a special session to remember the launch of it and reflect on what impact it has had on Members’ ability to ‘work together to improve the lives of people in debt’.
