Case study: One Awards

One Awards is a Quality Assurance and Accreditation organisation offering accreditation services, Access to HE Diplomas, and delivering services on behalf of awarding body NOCN (which Engage Comms also works with).

We worked with One Awards alongside our ongoing work for NOCN on a campaign to promote their Access to Higher Education offer centred around their flagship annual event at the end of 2017. Along with promoting the event on social channels, we attended on the day to host a ‘social hub’ where we live-tweeted the sessions using the promoted hashtag. Seizing the opportunity to engage learners attending the event, we gathered soundbite quotes about the benefits of Access to HE courses, which we turned into timeless graphics that One Awards could utilize in the future. Of the tweets we posted in the lead up to the event, 67% were conversational and gained over 20,000 impressions.

We were then asked to help promote two free workshops in January 2018 to introduce and maximise digital technologies into college courses to improve student retention. We used a mixture of email marketing and social media strategies to engage this hard to reach audience and drive footfall at the events. One way we boosted engagement was by launching a Twitter poll aimed at students which we then used to Direct Message the colleges on Twitter asking them to share. We gained 84 votes in total and the tweet contributed to an amazing increase of impressions of over 1200% throughout the month, successfully engaging with the target colleges. Not only did this boost impressions, it also provided us with useful statistics that can be used in future comms.
