Yorkshire-based B2B marketing communications consultancy Engage Comms Ltd has been named as a Finalist in the Credit Awards 2023 Best Marketing Campaign of the Year category for its work with not-for-profit membership organisation Money Advice Liaison Group (MALG).

In its 24th year, Credit Strategy’s Credit Awards is the flagship awards for the credit and financial services sector. It recognises and celebrates innovation, best practice and the hard work of individuals, business divisions and pan-global conglomerates across the entire industry.

Engage Comms, which was founded in 2012 by Directors Jo Parker and Helen Gill, has been working with MALG for more than six years as its fully outsourced marketing communications partner. In that time, MALG has gone from strength to strength, significantly growing the breadth and volume of its membership across the whole debt landscape and becoming respected as one of the most important membership organisations in its field.

MALG’s aim of ‘working together to improve the lives of people in debt’ has become even more vital in recent years with the organisation quickly adapting to a virtual networking model during the pandemic thanks to support from Engage Comms and operations partner Absolutely Admin Solutions Ltd.

Engage Comms first started working in the debt sector back in 2013 when it was commissioned to carry out a piece of in-depth online market research for trade body the Credit Services Association (CSA). The boutique Northern agency now specialises in niche sectors including debt, having worked with the likes of Registry Trust (which maintains the Register of Judgments, Orders and Fines on behalf of the Ministry of Justice), debt purchase firm Perch Group, and fintech Elifinty.

Helen Gill, Founding Director of Engage Comms, comments:

“It is fitting that we should be shortlisted for this prestigious national award exactly 10 years since we first started working in the credit and debt sector. MALG is one of our longest-standing clients and we are proud of the role we have played in developing it into the organisation it is today. It is a privilege to work with an organisation that has such a unique proposition and culture which garners true collaboration, especially during such turbulent economic times.”

Bob Winnington, CEO of MALG, adds:

“Bringing Engage Comms on board was the best decision we could have made and they have become a critical part of the team. They have got fully under the skin of our sector and membership and are able to give us strategic advice that allows us to keep evolving and adapting to make us relevant and ‘future fit’. This award shortlisting is well deserved and testament to not just what a fantastic job they have done for us over the last 12 months but how far MALG has come as a result of the relationship.”

The Credit Awards ceremony will take place in London on 31 May. Others shortlisted in the Best Marketing Campaign of the Year category include Capital One and Bluestone Mortgages.
