The masterclass will help Yorkshire entrepreneurs and SMEs understand how to fulfil their growth potential by effectively engaging their audiences online and off. To give you a taster of the advice and tips we’ll be giving, here are our five ‘e’s of content marketing.

Empathy

“Seek first to understand then to be understood” (Stephen Covey). Social media gives you the power to truly listen to your audiences before you start talking so that you can shape your content to what they want to hear as opposed to just what you want to tell them.

Expertise

“An expert is one who knows more and more about less and less” (Nicholas M. Butler). So focus on your niche and don’t try to be ‘all things to all men’. The greatest return on investment will come from your best, most relevant customers so create content just for them.

Education

“These days, people want to learn before they buy, be educated instead of pitched” (Brian Clark). If you’re good enough at what you do, you shouldn’t be afraid to give away advice; it will pay dividends in loyal, valuable customers.

Excitement

“Marketing is no longer about the stuff you make, but about the stories you tell” (Seth Godin). Even the driest of subject matter can be brought to life. Remember, people don’t want to buy a drill, they just need to make a hole. So focus on outcomes, not products.

Empowerment

“A brand is no longer what we tell the customer it is, it is what customers tell each other it is” (Scott Cook). So make it easy for them to share and monitor/respond to/take on board reviews.
